	Soap Mesa Outfitters offers quality guided elk and mule deer hunts during 1st thru 4th rifle seasons on our spectacular 3500 acre property overlooking Blue Mesa Reservoir, the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Soap Creek and the Gunnison National Forest. In addition to the 3500 acres of private ground, we adjoin the West Elk National Forest and extend our hunts to an additional 6000 acres with a National Forest Permit. The hunting is very private, with only one other land owner having vehicular access to the private ground and National Forest on Soap Mesa. Our property, which is in Game Management Unit 54, is located just to the east of Black Canyon National Park and sits north and west of Blue Mesa Dam. It is only 40 miles from Montrose,Co., which has a regional airport, and just 25 miles from Gunnison, Co. Gunnison also has an airport with regular flights from Denver. So if you want to fly in, we can arrange to pick you up. If you would rather drive, we are just off of US Highway 50. The terrain elevation ranges from 7500 to 9500 feet and is extremely easy to hunt. We do not use horses as they are not needed. There are numerous stands of Aspen and Spruce as well as large open parks. The success ratio for 2007 was 75% for bull elk 100% for cow elk and 100% for deer. We are very much in tune to "building-up" the local herd and so only allow 6 hunters per season. The combination of abundant quality game and near utter seclusion make for an unforgetable experience. During your stay with us you will be warm and comfortable in our heated mountain cabin which features, hot and cold running water, full bathroom facilities, including a large hot shower, 2 toilets and 2 bath sinks. We have large bunks beds with mattresses and there is no need to worry about food, we do all of the cooking on our large commercial cook stove. Bring your rifle, your camera, your sleeping bag and any personal items you feel you might need.
